AHP Photo of the Week - #3

AHP 2017
Photo of the Week
Week 3

Pileated Woodpecker

This is a male Pileated Woodpecker.  He is the largest American woodpecker at about 17" tall.  He has discovered my suet feeders and has been coming quite frequently over the past couple of weeks.  Pileated Woodpeckers pair for life and I usually see his mate when he comes for lunch.  You can discern the male from the female by the red stripe along his beak line.

If you like this photo, you can view it and purchase it from my website.  Go to

and then under the Products menu, select "2017 Photo of the Week". Every week, I'll keep adding to this gallery.  So be sure to subscribe to email updates to this blog and you'll get notified when the next update is posted.
